Gnosticism is as old as time. But until recently the modern world did not have a clear window into who the Gnostics were and what they believed. Then, in December 1945, a miracle occurred. Two farmers discovered something mysterious buried in the desert near Nag Hammadi, Egypt. They were Gnostic documents hidden in a cave for decades.
Luckily, the documents were transferred to researchers, where they were translated — giving the world the first look at the ancient spiritual teachings of these ancient mystics. Today, we are lucky to have 52 documents — collectively called the Nag Hammadi Library —
from which to learn more about the Gnostics and their mystical spiritual teachings.
